PIPESTONE — Cole Robert Dezeeuw, of Pipestone, was charged with one count of storing meth paraphernalia in the presence of a child, a felony-level offense. Dezeeuw, 31, was also charged with a gross misdemeanor count of fifth-degree drug possession of a controlled substance.

On Dec. 15, law enforcement from the Pipestone County Sheriff's Office and Buffalo Ridge Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at a Pipestone residence, where Dezeeuw lived with his two minor children. Upon knocking on the door law enforcement officers were greeted by Dezeeuw, who invited them into the house.

During the search law enforcement reportedly located a yellow pen tube with white crystal substance, which field-tested positive for methamphetamine. Law enforcement also found a cut straw on a nightstand in the basement of the home. These items were reportedly in plain view and easily accessible to both children who reside in the house.

In the garage law enforcement allegedly located a variety of drug paraphernalia, including a small plastic container with white crystal substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine. Law enforcement also discovered a glass vial containing a white crystal substance that field-tested positive for meth under the driver's seat of a truck located inside the garage, and a glass meth pipe in the center console. Children's car seats are also located in the truck with a pipe and vial were discovered.

If convicted, Dezeeuw faces a maximum sentence of 5 years' imprisonment and/or a fine for $10,000 for the charge of storing meth paraphernalia in the presence of a child. The count of fifth-degree drug possession carries a maximum sentence of one year imprisonment and/or a fine of $3,000.
