A cat's love of straws has left the internet in stitches after a video compilation of the sneaky kitty's antics went gone viral.

Shared by user carly.marie98, the video now has over 3.5 million views on TikTok and over 400,000 likes.

In a series of clips, owner Carly's cat Nellie is caught fishing straws out of various drinks with her mouth.

In the comments, Carly shared: "Nellie is our 3-year-old Siamese. We rescued her at a year old, and she is loving all the attention"

Delighted by the hilarious video, TikTok users have posted over 2,000 comments in response. User litterrobot wrote: "Collecting straws like infinity stones," while user nananihilist said: "She's saving the turtles."

Later in the comments, the poster made it clear that the straws in the video were environmentally friendly too, writing: "They're reusable straws. I never use disposable."

But it turns out Nellie isn't the only feline straw fan around. User nothorgdarklord commented: "My cat does this too," while therealnathaniel_ison said: "Why are cats obsessed with straws? Every cat I've had loves them."

In a report about cat play, VCA Animal Hospitals said: "Often, the simple [toys] are the best, and ones that offer unpredictable movement, rapid movement, and high-pitched sound are likely to provide your cat with hours of entertainment.

"Cats also like to be able to pick their toys up, so small items are often more attractive than larger ones."

Nellie's unusual favorite toy is perfect for batting, chewing, chasing, and pouncing—all big parts of a cat's play instincts.

Other viewers focused on the feline's eco sensibilities. "Environmental queen, purr," wrote one commenter.

Information gathered by Statista reports that it is estimated that the U.S. is the world's largest generator of plastic waste, with each American citizen generating roughly 290lbs of plastic waste per year.

While there is currently no national ban on single-use plastic straws, individual towns, cities, and states have developed their own rules to reduce their use. In many parts of the U.S. single-use straws are banned in restaurants unless a customer specifically requests one.

Nellie isn't the only cat to enjoy an unusual toy, this week another cat went viral after playing in a baby bouncer at 3 a.m. Back in January, this delightful video of a "masked bandit" cat also had the internet in stitches.
